| Introduction |

The Liberty County Attorney's Office is a multi-faceted operation
that handles many diverse aspects of law. The County Attorney's
Office is comprised of three attorneys and seven support staff. The
County Attorney's office not only prosecutes Class "A" and "B"
misdemeanors, it also handles juvenile prosecution as well as
representing the State in Justice Court cases. The office also
represents the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services
in CPS and
APS cases as
well as handling Mental and Chemical Dependency Commitments for the
County. The County Attorney's Office provides legal advice to the
Liberty County Commissioner's Court regarding the Local Government
Code as well as assisting department heads in the County who need
legal advice. The office assists victims of domestic abuse with
protective orders and information regarding the crime victims
compensation program. The County Attorney's office collects hundred
of thousands of dollars for local merchants and individuals in our
Hot Check Department. The Liberty County Attorney's Office is
service-oriented and tries to assist "all the people all the time."
