"A Judge...shall not directly or indirectly initiate, permit, nor consider ex parte or other private communications concerning the merits of a pending or impending judicial proceeding. A Judge shall require compliance with this subsection by court personnel subject to his or her direction and control... " Judicial Code of Conduct Cannon 3 Section A(5)
General Information
Court begins at 9:00 a.m. Hearings are set for 9:00 am or 1:30 pm. All hearings are open to the public.
Courtroom attire includes, but is not limited to:
No caps
No sunglasses
No shorts
No midriff shirts
No baggy trousers
No cell phones
No pagers
No slouching or sleeping in the courtroom.
Please dress appropriately.
Hearings
All hearings, court trials and jury trials are to be set with the Court Coordinator.
A copy of the Court's calendar is available.
A party requesting a hearing is required to notify all parties and copy the Court.
A hearing is required for all summary judgment motions.
A hearing is required for all motions to transfer.
A hearing is required for all default judgments, if the attorney's fees requested are greater than 10% of the judgment.
Judgments
Agreed judgments must be signed by all attorneys and parties.
Judgments (i.e., court, jury, divorce decrees) must be signed by all attorneys.
Uncontested matters require submission of a judgment or decree at the time of hearing.
A default judgment may be submitted for the Judge's signature only if the attorney's fees are not more than 10% of the judgment or a minimum of $500.
All requests for transcripts must be in writing, designating the case style, date of hearing, portion(s) of hearing requested, and copies of exhibits, if any.

Electronic Recording
Records are made of all hearings via electronic recording. Please do not speak over other attorneys or the Judge as the recording is less than desirable when the words cannot be understood.
Tapes are available of all hearings at a cost of $15.00 per tape. The number of tapes necessary will vary according to the length of the hearing.
Jury Trials
Each attorney is expected to have a proposed jury charge prepared the first day of trial. All challenges for cause during voir dire shall be made at the time the challenge for cause arises.
