The purpose of the Liberty County Veterans Office is to assist
any county resident who served in the armed forces and their
dependents to prepare, submit and present their claim to ensure
they receive the entitlement they deserve.

the Department of Veterans' Affairs
- Federal Benefits:
a. Compensation for Service Connected
Disability
b. Pension for a Non-Service Connected
Disability
c. Burial Benefits
- Death Pension & Death Compensation
- Grave Markers
d. GI Home Loan Guaranty
e.
Education
f. Health Care Enrollment
- State of Texas Benefits:
- a. Land Program of 5 acres or more
- b. Housing Assistance Loan
- c. Home Improvement Loan
- d. Education (Hazelwood Act)
- War Time Service Dates:
- World War II - 12/7/41 through
12/31/46
- Korean War - 6/27/50 through 1/31/55
- Vietnam Era - 8/5/64 (2/28/61 for
veterans who served "In Country" before 8/5/64) through 6/7/75
- Gulf War - 8/2/90 through a date to be
set by law or a Presidential Proclamation.
- Documents that should be kept in a safe place:
- a. Original separation document or DD-124 (can be recorded
at County Clerk's Office)
- b. Marriage license
- c. Divorce decree/death records of prior marriage(s) for
self or current spouse.
- d. Birth certificates of children or adoption decrees.
- e. Social Security numbers for yourself, spouse, and
children.
